TITLE: Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC)
DESCRIPTION: Large human service agency seeks a full time Substance Abuse Counselor with a CASAC located in Hempstead, Nassau County, Long Island, NY. TITLE: Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors for Phoenix House Training Academy
DESCRIPTION: The Phoenix Vocational Training Academy is a Department of Education-licensed vocational and business school. The Academy provides six month courses in cosmetology, carpentry, building maintenance, culinary arts and office technologies, as well as GED classes, vocational counseling and job placement. The Phoenix Vocational Training Academy is part of Phoenix Houses of New York and is co-located with an OASAS-licensed residential substance abuse treatment facility. Most clients of the Academy are residents in the treatment facility. We are searching for several Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors to assist clients with achievement of vocational and educational goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES: * Assess clients’ vocational and educational needs * Work with clients to identify appropriate vocational and educational goals and prepare vocational and employment plans * Provide instruction in Job Readiness to ensure that clients are prepared to be successful in employment interviews * Complete VESID and other training/education paperwork for clients * Work with clients to overcome personal issues that may act as barriers to training or employment * Conduct counseling sessions and post employment follow-up for clients who have been placed in jobs * Work closely with clinical counselors and other clinical staff to monitor client progress and evolving needs * Develop and maintain linkages with vocational programs and other support services needed by clients * Meet client service targets * Maintain appropriate tracking systems and complete reports in a timely fashion * Collaborate with Vocational Instructors and other members of the Vocational and Clinical Teams
QUALIFICATIONS: * Masters Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation or related field of rehabilitation psychology OR Masters degree in any counseling or psychology field, with one year of experience in the career counseling of clients with alcohol/substance abuse problems and/or clients from other disadvantaged populations OR Bachelors Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Services or otherwise related field and two years of experience providing career counseling, mentoring or vocational services to disadvantaged populations OR Rehabilitation Counseling Masters Degree student supervised by a CRC * Strong desire to help people and ability to work with challenging clients required * Strong organization skills, time management skills and attention to detail required * Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines required * Strong interpersonal skills and oral/written communication skills required * Knowledge of goals and objectives of substance abuse treatment preferred

TITLE: Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor
DESCRIPTION: The Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor will report to the Director of Vocational and Educational Services. The Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor will provide rehabilitation services to all clients who wish to explore and pursue vocational and/or educational goals. The counselor conducts intake assessments, works with adult and young adult (18-25) clients to develop Individualized Action Plans (IAP), provides individual and group counseling services, refers clients to appropriate vocational training, educational programs and employment opportunities.
RESPONSIBILITIES: * Conduct intakes, Diagnostic Vocational Evaluations (DVEs) and assessments for all new participants * Develop IAPs with clients that identify vocational goals and allow for planning for services * Provide individual and group vocational counseling services * Lead prevocational groups including Career Exploration while administering, scoring and discussing appropriate aptitude assessments with clients and staff * Facilitate weekly educational workshops * Identify and refer appropriate clients for cognitive and educational assessments * Make appropriate referrals to in-house programs and services including computer classes, JobWorks and Emporium Online * Develop partnerships with other agencies and employers that lead to client referrals for club house services, vocational training, GED tutorial and testing, One-Stop and VESID services and competitive employment * Track placement & retention rates and maintain case records in accordance with program and agency standards * Attend clinical case reviews and other necessary meetings * Conduct outreach for new program participants across NCS programs including Chance for Change, Louis Nine House, New Vistas and Transitions. * Oversee volunteers who assist with literacy and or job readiness activities * Work cooperatively with staff at all levels to ensure quality service provision and participate fully in an interdisciplinary team approach * Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS: Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or related field is preferred. Certified Rehabilitation Counseling credentials or currently pursuing credentials, required. Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree and significant experience working with homeless, MI/MICA will be considered. Candidates must possess strong computer skills, good communication skills and a commitment to a teamwork approach. Bilingual a plus.

TITLE: Clinical Director (Brooklyn & Manhattan)
DESCRIPTION: Internationally known nonprofit seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented Clinical Director to oversee Social Service Unit. QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed Social Worker status, (LCSW) preferred, or a Masters Degree in a related discipline. Must have at least three (3) years of clinical supervisory and administrative experience. Candidate should possess 3 years clinical and administrative experience and extensive experience working with Substance Abuse and Mental Health population.

DESCRIPTION: Provides assessment for the developing and implementing of a comprehensive plan that will result in patients entering skills training, education classes and employment. • Oversees initial interview of patients to obtain vocational/educational background information to identify preliminary vocational/educational needs. • Completes a career plan to identify short and long term objectives for patient. • Provides group and individual counseling of patients. • Assists patients with job development: offers workshops in employability and job preparation skills; offers workshops in employability and job preparation skills; offers post-employment counseling to patients in an individual or group setting. • Establishes linkages with vocational/educational services providers in the community and refers patients for services. • Attends interdisciplinary team meetings and case conferences. • Provides technical assistance to counselors related to vocational services and goals.
